Special Operations Unit (JSO or abbreviated Frenkijevci by Franko Simatovic), the Serbian elite police special-purpose unit, which has since 1996 been part of the State Security Department, and the official name was given on June 9 in 1998.
Franko Simatovic (born in Belgrade, Simatović is an ethnic Croat , 1 April 1950) was the head of the Serbian secret police of Slobodan Milosevic, intelligence officer and the commander of the special forces of the State Security Service of Serbia. He is the founder of the Special Operations Unit (JSO).
Simatovic is indicted by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, having committed various crimes against non-Serbian population during the wars resulting from the breakup of Yugoslavia (1991 - 1995), including persecution and murder. He was arrested in 2003 and extradited to the Hague Tribunal. On 30 May 2013, was acquitted of all charges.
The JSO was disbanded by decision of the Government of Serbia on March 25, 2003.
